Is an eye examination only for glasses?

No. A comprehensive eye examination evaluates not only the glasses prescription but also structures such as the front of the eye, intraocular pressure, the optic nerve and the retina.

Can there be a disease without complaints?

Yes. Glaucoma and some retinal diseases may not cause noticeable complaints in their early stages. For this reason, regular checkups are important for some people.

How often should you have an examination?

There is no single interval for everyone. Age, family history, conditions such as diabetes, existing eye problems and previous examination findings determine the checkup interval.

What is the benefit of early diagnosis?

In some eye diseases, early diagnosis can be important for preserving vision and for starting appropriate treatment in time.

When is an eye examination needed?

If you have a vision complaint that is new, ongoing or affecting your daily life, it is advisable to have it evaluated with an eye examination. Symptoms such as sudden loss of vision, severe eye pain or a curtain/shadow in your visual field should be evaluated without delay.
