Laser eligibility assessment for refractive errors
The laser methods used for refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism are not all the same, and not every eye may be suitable for laser. It is not only the eye's prescription that is evaluated; whether the prescription has remained stable and stopped progressing, corneal thickness and mapping, the ocular surface, the pupil and retinal findings are also assessed.
The aim is not to steer the person toward a particular method, but to identify safe and realistic options based on the structure of the eye. If laser is not suitable, glasses, contact lenses or, for suitable patients, other surgical options can be discussed.
