Cataract assessment and surgical planning
A cataract is the loss of transparency of the natural lens inside the eye. It can cause symptoms such as blurred vision, faded colors, glare from lights and frequent changes in glasses prescription. It usually does not cause pain, burning or stinging.
Treatment consists of surgically removing the natural lens that has lost its transparency and replacing it with a suitable intraocular lens. The timing of surgery and the choice of lens are planned by evaluating together the structure of the eye, any accompanying conditions and the patient's daily visual needs.
